Smart Ways to Give

Gifts of Stock

A gift of Appreciated Stocks and Mutual Funds helps avoid paying capital gains taxes resulting in tax savings of up to 70%!

GIFTS OF REAL ESTATE

Gifts of real estate are a smart way to make an impact without dipping into your bank account – and without paying capital gains tax!

IRA CHARITABLE ROLLOVER

If you are 70½ or older, a QCD is a great way to support the Spokane Symphony. QCD’s made from your IRA (up to $100,000 per person per year or $200,000 per couple) are not reportable as taxable income.

IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER
For tax purposes, the Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) must pass directly from your IRA to the Spokane Symphony, NOT withdrawn from your account. Contact your Financial Advisor who will make the distribution directly to the Spokane Symphony with your approval.

DONOR ADVISED FUND

A donor advised fund (DAF) is a smart way to give under a public charity. It is done by making an irrevocable gift of cash or other assets to a financial or community institution, receiving a tax deduction, and as a “donor-advisor” may make non-binding grant recommendations to benefit the charities you care about. Some financial or community institutions you might think of are Innovia, Schwab Charitable, or Fidelity Charitable, among others.

SUSTAINING GIFTS

Sustaining gifts are designed to make your Annual Fund giving more convenient and to benefit the Spokane Symphony by providing a more reliable, steady cash flow throughout the season. Automatic monthly giving also removes the need for mailed pledge reminders, benefiting the environment and saving the Symphony valuable staff time and postage costs.

MATCHING GIFTS

Employee matching funds are a great opportunity to double the impact of your organization’s gift to the Spokane Symphony! Historically, organizations have matched their employees’ gifts as part of a special event like our Holiday Pops concert or contributions to our annual fund.

SPONSOR A CONCERT

Concert sponsorships options are varied, and we can help you decide the perfect fit for your community outreach preferences.

Your sponsorship can aid in the production and implementation of Symphony Masterworks, Pops, community concerts, specials, Chamber Soireés, and many different Fox Presents shows at the Fox Theater.

MUSICAL LEGACY SOCIETY

A contribution to the Spokane Symphony Society in your estate plan allows you to contribute to the Symphony’s success while achieving your own philanthropic and financial goals.  Naming the Symphony as a beneficiary in your will, or as a beneficiary of life insurance, your retirement fund, or your savings or checking account all represent forms of legacy giving.  With the help of your attorney or financial advisor, you can also use a more complex instrument such as a charitable life-income trust.
