SPOKANE—August 30, 2021…Spokane Symphony Executive Director Jeff vom Saal announced today that admission to Spokane Symphony concerts and “Fox Presents” events at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox will require proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test. Also, masks must be worn inside the theater.
The policy goes into effect on September 7, 2021.
“Because the health and safety of the Spokane Symphony’s and Fox Presents’ patrons, musicians, staff, employees and volunteers is our top priority, we are instituting the vaccine requirement, or the proof of a negative test result if people are not fully vaccinated. We are also following the state guideline about mask-wearing indoors. We want everyone to attend our concerts and we want everyone to be safe and feel safe,” said vom Saal.
The 76th season of the Spokane Symphony with Music Director James Lowe starts on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. with Masterworks 1, “The Return of the Symphony.” The concert repeats on Sunday, September 19th at 3:00 p.m.
The upcoming two free Labor Day weekend concerts by the Spokane Symphony (on Sept. 4 at Liberty Lake’s Pavilion Park at 6 pm and Sept. 6 at the Pavilion at Riverfront Park at 6 pm) will mark the first time the whole orchestra has played together since March 7, 2020.
As owner and operator of the Fox Theater, the Spokane Symphony’s official COVID-19 health policy is:
Effective September 7, 2021, audience members 12 years of age or older attending Spokane Symphony or Fox Presents events at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox must show, at the time of entrance to the Fox Theater, one of the following to gain admission:
Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination (paper card or electronic version) showing fully immunized status plus ID,
Proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 72 hours prior to concert admission plus ID. The test must be administered by a healthcare provider, pharmacy, etc. Self-administered or over-the-counter test are not an option at this time.
Masks must be worn by everyone over age five while inside Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox, except when they are actively eating or drinking.
These health policies are subject to change and will be amended to remain consistent with public health policy and local, state and federal guidelines.
As owner and operator of Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox, the Spokane Symphony determines its own health policies for the symphony concerts and “Fox Presents” events they present. Therefore, today’s COVID-19 policy applies only to Spokane Symphony concerts and upcoming events like Fox Presents: The Allman Betts Band on September 11th.
Outside promoters and presenters rent the theater too, and their health policies for concerts and events may differ from those of the Spokane Symphony. For information and details about events, please visit: www.foxtheaterspokane.com and www.spokanesymphony.org
