Shy composer Anton Bruckner dedicated his Third Symphony to Wagner after plucking up the courage to visit the great master. Wagner’s own Tristan und Isolde is a groundbreaking work that pushed composition into previously unexplored areas of musical force.

The Fox 1001 W Sprague Ave, Spokane, WABeloved local favorite and internationally renowned cellist Zuill Bailey performs Elgar’s last major work, a lament to a lost era after the first World War. Mozart’s Requiem was incomplete at his death, leaving his student Süssmayr to finish the work.
Spokane Symphony Masterworks 9: Stravinsky’s Firebird
The Fox 1001 W Sprague Ave, Spokane, WATo end the 77th season, we journey to Hungary and beyond with music and tales rooted in folk traditions. Bartók’s music conjures tipsy farmworkers, dancing bears and a warm village evening. Brahms’ Violin Concerto oozes warmth and Hungarian spice, while Ligeti takes folk music to a dizzying extreme. Stravinsky’s Firebird concludes with monsters, heroes and princesses from the ultimate musical fairytale.
