Our concertmaster, Mateusz Wolski, performs Barber’s virtuosic and rich Violin Concerto, we hear music from former Spokanite George Frederick McKay, and we’re thrilled to present a new work by Sydney Guillaume.

Spokane Symphony Masterworks 9: Stravinsky’s Firebird

The Fox 1001 W Sprague Ave, Spokane, WA

To end the 77th season, we journey to Hungary and beyond with music and tales rooted in folk traditions. Bartók’s music conjures tipsy farmworkers, dancing bears and a warm village evening. Brahms’ Violin Concerto oozes warmth and Hungarian spice, while Ligeti takes folk music to a dizzying extreme. Stravinsky’s Firebird concludes with monsters, heroes and princesses from the ultimate musical fairytale.
