MusicFest Northwest Young Artist Winners, Spokane Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Spokane Youth Philharmonic perform with the Spokane Symphony
Join us for an evening of music, inspiration, and community as the Spokane Symphony proudly shares the stage with promising young musicians. This special concert is a joyful tribute to the next generation of artists, showcasing their talent, passion, and dedication alongside the seasoned brilliance of our professional orchestra.
Experience the excitement of debut performances with the Spokane Symphony by MusicFest Northwest Young Artists Winners. Then, feel the energy as the Spokane Youth Symphony Orchestra and Spokane Youth Philharmonic perform “side-by-side” with the Spokane Symphony—filling the Fox with artistry, mentorship, and intergenerational collaboration. Families, music lovers, and curious minds of all ages are invited to celebrate the achievements of incredible student musicians and the power of live symphonic music.

2026 Young Artist Winners
Gabriel Roller is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Bassoon Performance under Dr. Javier Rodriguez at the University of Idaho. Mr. Roller received his Bachelors of Music Education from Northwest Missouri State University studying under Dr. Joseph Tomasso. Mr. Roller has performed as principal bassoon, second bassoon, and contra-bassoon in ensembles such as the University of Idaho Orchestra and Wind Symphony, National Intercollegiate Band, CBDNA Intercollegiate Honor Band, and many more. After completing his master’s degree, Mr. Roller plans on studying abroad, pursuing a performance career, and pursuing a career in university education.
Linda Ouimette is a 16-year-old pianist from Spokane, Washington and studies piano with Barbara Miller. She began playing piano at the age of six and has received numerous awards and recognitions throughout her musical studies, including multiple Gold Medals and Adjudicator’s Choice at MusicFest Northwest, a WSMTA State Recitalist Winner, and receiving an Honorable Mention award in the MTNA Junior Piano Competition. An honor roll student at Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, Washington, she is actively involved in student leadership and community service through several school organizations, including serving as President of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. Outside of music, Linda enjoys spending time with her six-year-old brother, Teddy, helping him with his piano studies, and going on walks with her two dogs.
Michael Perry is a senior Music Education major at Whitworth University. He is a native of Richland, Washington, and graduated from Hanford High School. Michael is the principal tubist in the Whitworth Wind Symphony and bass trombonist in the Whitworth Jazz Orchestra. As a sophomore, he won the university’s annual Concerto Competition, earning the opportunity to perform with the Whitworth orchestra. After completing his degree, Michael plans to remain in Washington and pursue a career as a music educator.
Sage Sorensen lives in Pendleton, Oregon and started playing violin at around the age of 5. She has been studying with Spokane Symphony concert master Mr. Mateusz Wolski since 2020 and is extremely grateful for his unwavering support and encouragement. Sage is a member of the Spokane Youth Symphony orchestra and chamber group. She enjoys reading and being in nature. Her future plans are to continue studying music and furthering her education.
Soprano Maegan Hoogerhyde holds degrees in voice from Montclair State University and New England Conservatory, and maintains an active performing and teaching career. In the 2025-26 season, she appeared as Gilda (Rigoletto) and the title role of Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah in scenes with Opera Atlantic, and was chosen as the winner of the MusicFest Northwest Vocal Competition. Other recent highlights include Mimì (La bohème) and the title role of Thaïs in scenes with the Manetti Shrem Opera Program at Festival Napa Valley. She has performed with Boheme Opera NJ and New Jersey Opera Theater, and as a soloist with the Adelphi Orchestra, Englewinds, Blackburn Music Academy Orchestra, Orchestra 201, and New Jersey Vocal Arts Collaborative. Along with her active performance career, Maegan maintains a successful voice studio in the North Jersey area.
*Maegan will be performing her Young Artist solo at the Labor Day concerts on September 5 at Pavillion Park and September 7 at Comstock Park and will not be featured in this performance.
Bag Policy
All bags (with the exception of clutches 6 1/2 by 4 1/2 inches) are subject to visual inspection by venue security.
Large bags are not allowed in The Fox, and must be checked in our Coat Check (located in the North Gallery) for the duration of the event.
