SPOKANE —A new Fox Summer Concert Series, featuring Lyle Lovett and His Large Band, Herb Alpert and Lani Hall, and Melissa Etheridge is planned in Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox. The series kicks off with Texas-based Lyle Lovett and His Large Band on Friday, July 14. Later that month, trumpeter Herb Alpert and wife, vocalist Lani Hall, appear with their band on Thursday, July 27. Finally, Melissa Etheridge performs M.E. Live on Friday, Aug. 4. All three shows start at 8 p.m.
Lyle Lovett's live performances show not only the breadth of this Texas legend's deep talents, but also the diversity of his influences, making him one of the most compelling and captivating musicians in popular music. A four-time Grammy Award-winner, he has broadened the definition of American music in a career that spans 14 albums over three decades. He appears in concert with The Large Band on Friday, July 14.
Herb Alpert, stellar trumpeter and former leader of the Tijuana Brass, has won nine Grammy Awards and at times sold more albums than the Beatles. He will perform with his wife, vocalist Lani Hall, herself a Grammy Award-winner and the former lead singer of Sergio Mendes’s Brasil ’66. Experience these legendary performers with their band on Thursday, July 27.
Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge stormed onto the American rock scene in 1988 with the release of her critically acclaimed self-titled debut album, and over the years, her popularity grew. Known for her confessional lyrics and raspy, smoky vocals, Etheridge has remained one of America’s favorite female singer-songwriters for more than two decades. She will debut at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox on Friday, Aug. 4.
Also in the rock genre, the Spokane Symphony will perform Windborne’s The Music Of Led Zeppelin at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox on Friday, May 12 at 8 p.m. Amplified by a full rock band and accompanied by singer Randy Jackson’s screaming vocals, creator Brent Havens guest conducts the Spokane Symphony in a note-for-note interpretation of classic Led Zeppelin hits. Tickets are on sale now at SpokaneSymphony.org
