Spokane Symphony Classics: Bach, Beethoven And Shostakovich

Spokane Symphony Classics: Bach, Beethoven And Shostakovich

DANIEL HEGE, GUEST CONDUCTOR
BRUCE BODDEN, FLUTE

Daniel Hege returns to conduct a program of powerful works spanning the centuries. Bach’s suite for flute and orchestra features Spokane Symphony Principal Flutist Bruce Bodden. Beethoven’s Fifth, one of the most played symphonies of all time, has infiltrated popular culture in countless ways from movie scores to rock anthems. Shostakovich dedicated his Chamber Symphony to the “memory of the victims of fascism and war.” Originally written as a string quartet, it is hauntingly beautiful. Featuring a string quartet from Whitworth University in the lobby before the concert.
